When success depends on serving millions of users or the largest enterprise customers, the specific thing someone truly needs often never gets built. Not because teams don’t care, but because the economics of software have always favored markets over individuals.

AI is changing that.

When my career took an unexpected turn, I immersed myself in AI-native development—not just to learn the tools, but to understand what they genuinely made possible. What I found was bigger than just faster development … and it started raising a bigger question for me:

What if software could finally be designed around the person using it?

Not the “average” customer—you. Your business. Your workflow. The way you think.

That idea became Platen.

Years in product taught me that great software isn’t created by code alone. It comes from understanding people, defining the right problems, making thoughtful decisions, and refining until technology gets out of the way.

Modern AI removes many of the barriers that once made custom software impractical. Product craftsmanship is what makes it useful, reliable, and worth depending on.
